Use fresh peas if at all possible. Another alternative would be reconstituted freeze dried, available from nutsonline.com for one.
In medium bowl, combine peas with celery, onions, and sour cream. Toss gently to mix. (If made in advance, cover and refrigerate.)
Cook bacon until crisp. Drain well on paper towels.
Just before serving, stir cashews (optional), and bacon into salad. Season with salt and pepper.
Note: You may use scallions in place of green onions, of course!
