Original recipe makes 10 Servings
2 cupslentils
2 quartswater
2 eachslices of bacon
1 eachonion chopped
1/4 cupchopped carrots
1/2 cupchopped celery
3 tablespoonsparsley
1 eachclove garlic
2 teaspoonssalt
1/4 teaspoonpepper
1/2 teaspoonoregano
1 can (16 oz)canned tomatoes
2 tablespoonswine vinegar
1 1/2 cupstoasted croutons

Helen's Lentil Soup Preparation

COMBINE ALL INGREDIENTS EXCEPT TOMATOES, VINEGAR, AND CROUTONS. SIMMER FOR 1 1/2 HOURS. ADD TOMATOES AND VINEGAR AND SIMMER FOR 30 MORE MINUTES. SERVE HOT WITH CROUTONS ON TOP.
