A simple dessert that's served great with ice cream!

"I like this recipe. Very tasty served as lunch leftovers the next day.

My only suggestion is to add a bit more thickening agent when baking to ensure sauce is nice and thick. following recipe exactly as indicated left sauce a bit too thin and watery.

Very pleased with flavor. Got raves at a dinner party recently."

10 cups Apples; Peeled, cored, and sliced
1 cup Sugar
1 tbsp Flour
1/4 tsp Nutmeg
1 tsp Ground cinnamon
1/4 cup Water; (not always necessary - sugar makes the apples release juices!)
2 cup Quick-cooking Oats
2 cup Flour
2 cup Brown sugar; packed
1/2 tsp Baking powder
1/2 tsp Baking soda
1 cup Butter; softened

Original recipe makes 14 Servings



1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees

2. Toss the apples in the white sugar, 1 tbsp flour, nutmeg, and ground cinnamon. Place the sliced apples in a 9x13 pan (Might not need water. The blending of apples with sugar brings out moisture). Pour water evenly all over.

3. Combine the oats, 1 cup flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda and cut the butter into the mixture. Crumble evenly over apple mixture.

4. Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes.


The topping is doubled for a 9x13.

The instructions call for 2 cups of flour and the instructions call for 1. It seems like maybe 2 cups is too much.

This recipe makes A LOT!! Currently there are four adults living in my household and we've still eaten it almost every night for 5 nights. It is very good, especially with ice cream and I'm sure I'll make it again...but I'll divide the recipe in half next time.

Have made this twice in the last 2 weeks! It is excellent!! You can cut the recipe in half, and it works just as well!! A definite keeper!!

This was great! My family can't get enough of it! We topped ours off with vanilla ice cream when it was still warm.

Very good. I added a 1/4 of rum extract and let the apple mixture sit for about 10 to get the juices started. Will definitely be making this again!
