Baked Apples Preparation

Heat oven to 350F. Mix together syrup ingredients and bring to a boil. Peel the apples, removing only about the top two inches. Core the apples and place them upright in a baking dish. Pour the syrup over and into the apples. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. A fork will glide through the apple when done. Sprinkle tops with a little extra brown sugar and broil for 3 minutes. Serve warm with ice cream, whipped cream, creme fraiche or plain cream. Recipe by Mangia!
