This has been a standard favorite in my family for years. The recipe comes from my father's Aunt Mable, who passed away several years ago.

Original recipe makes 8 Servings
1 1/2 cupsSugar
1/4 cupFlour; sifted
1 teaspoonVanilla extract
1/2 cupMargarine
3 largeEggs
1/2 cupButtermilk
1 Pie crust; unbaked
Optional Chocolate Version
1/4 cupCocoa

Aunt Mable's Buttermilk Pie Preparation

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Mix flour & sugar. Stir mixture into softened margarine. Beat eggs into mixture one at a time. Stir in vanilla and buttermilk.

(Note: To make the optional chocolate version, add the cocoa to the mixture.)

Pour mixture into unbaked pie crust. Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 55 minutes.
