This is a great fudgy cake. It is very much a dump cake where you put the water on top of the mixed dough and the dry cocoa powder resulting in a gooey cake that is not too sweet but is made sweeter by adding a scoop of your favorite vanilla ice cream.
Sift dry ingredients together. Add milk, melted shortening, vanill and mix only until smooth. Pour the dough into greased one quart casserole. Separately mix the brown sugar and cocoa and sprinkle over the dough. Pour the boiling water on top of the dough and dry ingredients. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes. Serve hot with whipped cream or ice cream.
