Spicy sausage meat filled pastry, ideal for parties or snacking.
Easy to make and quick to disappear.
Mush the sausage, onion and spices until well mixed.
Microwave for 1 minute intervals until brown, mixing well between sessions. Ideally use fork to ensure that it's all mixed together and mashed well.
Thaw pastry at room temperature, but not until too soft.
Put pastry sheets on a floured surface and cut in half (against the seam)
Spoon mixture on one half, paste beaten egg on one edge and roll over to seal.
Cut into sections ( each 1/2 sheet yields 6 rolls - ideally cut at seam and in half again to get the 6 rolls).
Using a fork, put a hole in the top of each one and glaze with beaten egg.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes until golden brown.
It takes patience when folding as the mixture just makes enough for 48 rolls. Try not to overfill each sheet. I usually use a tablespoon and keep putting a tablespoon full side by side until the sheet is full. I've been making this for a while so don't actually measure the spices, and have estimated the amount used. For your first time making just try using about 3 or 4 shakes of the spice container and see how that tastes. That way the next time you know to add more or less. :)
