Combine first 8 ingredients. Add panko and crab, tossing gently to combine. Cover & refrigerate 30 minutes.
Fill 1/3-cup dry measuring cup with crab mixture. Invert onto work surface, and gently pat into 3/4 inch thick patty. repeat, forming 8 patties.
Heat 1 1/2 tsp oil in large skillet over medium-high heat. Add 4 cakes to pan, cook 4 minutes until bottoms are golden. Carefully turn; cook another 4 minutes, until golden brown. Remove and keep warm. Wipe pan clean. Add remaining oil and repeat procedure with 4 remaining cakes.
