I have put these cookies in a county fair and won grand prize and 1st place also the recipes was publish in a magazine... then I put these cookies in the state fair and won 1st place there too....

Original recipe makes 1 Servings
3/4 cupShortening
1 cupsugar
1/4 cupmolasses
1 egg
1/2 tsp.salt
2 cupsflour
2 tsp.baking soda
1/2 tsp.cloves
1/2 tsp.ginger
1 tsp.cinnamon

Molasses Cookies Preparation

Melt shortening over low heat. Remove from heat and let cool. then add sugar, molasses and egg, beat well. sift flour, soda, cloves, ginger, cinnamon and salt, add to first mixture mix well, then chill in the freezer for an hour. then form into 1-inch ball and roll in sugar and place on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 minutes.

These cookies very very good... They are my favorite..... It's a recipe that has been pass down to me from my mom and grandmother etc!!
