Original recipe makes 20 Servings
| 6 poundground beef |
| 2 poundsground lamb |
| 2 smallonions; grated |
| 2 lemons; juice of |
| 5 clovesGarlic; chopped |
| 1/2 poundcornmeal |
| 1 tablespoonbasil |
| 1 tablespoonblack pepper |
| 1 tablespoonoregano |
| 2 tablespoonsparsley |
| 3/4 tablespoonmint leaves |
| 1/2 tablespoonthyme |
| 1/2 tablespooncumin |
| 1/2 tablespoonground mustard |
Gyros by Nick Preparation
This recipe will make approximately 10 pounds of gyros meat. Divide into two parts. Place each in a large plastic bag. Press the mixture to form an almost square block about 2 " thick. Place it in the freezer and when ready to use, slice the gyros meat and grill it with vegetable oil.
To make the Pita Sandwich:
grill 6 strips of gyros meat
serve with lettuce, tomatoes, onions and Yogurt Sauce (see recipe)
