1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees
2. With a sharp paring knife, cut potatoes into 1/8-inch thick slices but do not cut completely through the potatoes. Leave slices attached at the bottom of the potatoes and gently spread the slices apart to create a "fan" shape
3. Coat the inside of an 8-inch square baking dish with some oft the melted butter
4. Arrange the cut potatoes in the dish and drizzle or brush with melted butter
5. Sprinkle with paprika, salt, and pepper
6. Bake uncovered until potatoes are slightly crisp and cooked through (about 40 minutes0
7. Serve immediately
