"I loved this recipe. I wanted to make strawberry shortcake but without a "biscuit-like" cake, so I found this recipe. I was out of vanilla extract(!!!!!) so had to used almond extract, but it was still lucsious and went great with my strawberries and whipped cream. " - dharmag

I'm not exactly why, but this turned out tasting like play-doh. I followed the recipe to the T. It was a bummer.

I followed this recipe EXACTLY how it says. It came out dry and very much like cornbread. Never using again.

I also used this to make chocolate cupcakes by adding 2 tbsp Special Dark Cocoa and an extra 1/4 tsp almond extract. This is my new go to recipe for cakes. Fast, easy, and delicious!

Did this really call for a Tablespoon on baking powder? I thought it was a typo, especially after checking several other 'cake' recipes! It rose beautifully, however it's sooo dense, I could commit murder with it, it tastes' okay, it looks a little light in color to be 'yellow cake'. Not sure if I'll try again. This was to be the first time I used my professional pans AND made Mr. Picky a cake from scratch, ever! On a more positive note, the cream cheese icing is really yummy! Oh well, maybe I'll try again someday.

Followed recipe exactly until last ingredient and was more of a dough then batter, added a vanilla instant pudding mix and 1.5 cups milk for take and to get it more batter like. Tastes great and awesome for decorated cakes!
