"I loved this recipe. I wanted to make strawberry shortcake but without a "biscuit-like" cake, so I found this recipe. I was out of vanilla extract(!!!!!) so had to used almond extract, but it was still lucsious and went great with my strawberries and whipped cream. "

Ingredients

1 c Butter; softened
1 1/4 c milk
1 ts Vanilla
2 c Sugar
5 lg Eggs
1 tb Baking Powder
1/2 ts Salt
3 c All-purpose flour; sifted

Preparation

Let eggs, milk, and butter stand till room temperature. Cream butter, gradually add sugar, beating well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt, add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Stir in vanilla. Pour batter into 2 greased and floured 9-inch round cake pans or 13x9 inch cake pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Was an awsome cake. Loved it , I made chocolate buttercream icing to go with it and my family and guess loved it. :)

The cake is good but the heat needed to bumped up a bit maybe it was my oven but came out fluffy and soft and golden. Turned the heat up to 375 F
