Red Cabbage with Apples and Red Wine Preparation
Cook bacon slowly in medium saucepan until brown and crisp. Remove from pan with slotted spoon. Place cabbage slices in pan with wine, sugar, apples, vinegar, and salt. Cook uncovered at low heat until cabbage is tender, about 30 minutes. Sprinkle with bacon just before serving. (Good with rich meats, particularly pork.)
