Red Lobsters Cheddar Biscuit Recipe Preparation

Mix Bisquick, cheddar and milk into soft dough. Beat with a wooden spoon for about 30 seconds. Spoon on to greased cookie sheet. Smooth down tops. (Bisquick forms sharp hard points otherwise) Bake for 8 to 10 min at 450 degrees. While baking, melt butter in pan and stir in garlic powder. Take bisquits from oven when done and brush butter on tops and serve hot. Posted to MM-Recipes Digest V5 #026 by valerie@nbnet.nb.ca (valerie) on Jan 26, 1998

Close but needed tweaking...for 10-12 'R.L. Clone' CHEDDAR GARLIC BUTTERMILK BISCUITS

2 1/2 Cup Buttermilk Baking Mix (i.e.: Jiffy, Bisquick)
1/2 stick Unsalted COLD Butter--diced like pea-sized into dry mix.
1 Cup shredded Cheddar or Colby Jack Cheese
3/4 Cup 2% Milk (OR Skim w/ Half 'N Half)

    1 tsp. Garlic POWDER (divided)
    1/2 stick Unsalted Butter--melted
    1/4 tsp. Salt
1/2 tsp. Dried Parsley (fresh might burn in oven)
    1/8 tsp. Onion POWDER
OPTIONAL: 1/8 to ΒΌ tsp. Old Bay Seasoning--powder type
PREHEAT OVEN to 400 degrees F.
Combine flour, 1/4 tsp. Garlic Powder & cold butter with forks or pastry cutter. Add cheese in mix then add milk combined w/ wooden spoon just until combined dough. (Add spoons of milk if overly dry but not sticky dough) Drop by ice cream scoop sized mounds onto oil sprayed baking sheet. Melt 1/2 stick butter and add seasonings in Microwave or in small saucepan (don't burn butter!) Bake biscuits 15-19 minutes OR bake 10 minutes and take out to quickly brush some of butter on biscuits then back in to finish baking to light golden brown. Remove baked biscuits from oven and brush with melted butter topping. Serve Hot to smiling eaters.
