"I read the reviews and edited the recipe to my taste. I cut the chicken into chunks then fried it first. I added it to the crockpot with the can of pineapple chunks, a little more soy sauce and brown sugar. The flour from the fried chicken ended up making the sauce thicker. My family enjoyed the recipe.

Turn crockpot onto Low
Add all ingredients to crockpot and mix together.
Cook on low 6-8 hours.
It will start to fall apart when done.

Tbush1214 2 months agoI have to say I agree with most of the reviews. Based on the picture, I thought the 'sauce' would be thicker. It's still very runny and the chicken wasn't very eye appealing. It was still good, though.

ktloohoo 6 months agoACTUAL RECIPE CLEARLY NEEDS SOME CHANGES - Reviews for this are HORRIBLE... Thank goodness I read them beforehand. Here's a couple changes that yielded a delicious result :) Either reduce liquids (pineapple juice & soy sauce) by half or double the chicken (using 4 lbs of chicken chunks) but leave same amount of liquids. I also added 1/3 cup of flour to thicken it up and cooked longer, for a total of 10.5 hours. Lastly, actual recipe fails to state that you need to cut the chicken tenderloins into chunks. Mine turned out fabulous... Serve on a bed of rice and you'll feel like you're in Hawaii! YUM :)
cindymccormick 7 months agoyes, it was very watery....i was quite disappointed since this was my first recipe for my first new crock pot. but, strained and placed on white rice, it was good, but not a thumbs up. kids thought it tasted like turkey. i have a feeling that this recipe had the liquid ingredients measured wrong, maybe try a few ounces of each and then add a little brown sugar. i will try that some day and will post my results. but, the only way to get that chicken to look like the photo, is to maybe first coat it is corn starch and do a quick light stir fry with oil just enough to crisp up the chicken, and then add it to the crock pot with the remaining ingredients as i measured......again, will see how that turns out next time.
TheDozarian 7 months agoHmm... like many of other reviews here, I followed the recipe to the letter and came back to see what I had missed. I'll be sure to check the reviews next time. Sadly, with reviews this bad, perhaps the site could remove it. Super disappointed...
Krysten89 8 months agoDefinitely looks nothing like the picture! What a waste of time
Skyfire97 8 months agoWe liked the flavor, especially served with rice and broccoli, but it absolutely does not look like the picture. The sauce is very runny. I even tried adding corn starch and could not get it to resemble the pic. I suspect there is something missing from the recipe, but couldn't tell you what it is at this point.

Jillkb 9 months agoI am always skeptical of reviews because it seems that everytime I make a recipe that has a million good reviews and a few bad ones, I inevitabily find that I agree with the handful that are negative. So when I saw this one along with the reviews, I thought, well maybe this will be the opposite. Nope. I hate to be too harsh, but DO NOT make this recipe. The chicken is totally dried out and just 'stained' a darker color from the soy sauce. It doesn't taste like anything. The photo looks like there is some kind of coating on it, this is not the case when doing it in the crockpot. I would have to agree with the other reviewers in that this should be taken down. It is not good and the food will end up wasted. You'll end up going out for pizza like we did, I promise.
