"I made these today. They turned out perfectly and only took minutes to prepare. They were light and fluffy on the inside and a little golden crisp on the outside. I didn't roll them in sugar though (too much sugar for me) and they were sweet enough. They were super easy to make and not too hard on the ingredients list. I am adding these to my favorites. I might tastefully decorate them next time with sprinkles or something. "

1 1/2 cWhite flour
1/2 cUnsalted butter; room temp
1/2 cGranulated sugar
1 lgEgg
1 1/2 tsBaking Powder
1 tsVanilla extract

Butter-Cookies - Simple Butter Cookies Preparation

Beat the butter with the sugar. Add the egg and vanilla and beat until you get a uniform mixture. Mix the flour and baking powder and gradually blend them into the mixture. When youre done, you should have a rather sticky dough. Shape the dough into balls, about 1 inch in diame- ter. Roll them in sugar and place them on an ungreased cookie sheet, leaving about an inch of space between cookies, so that they dont stick together when they expand. Bake in preheated oven at 350 deg. Really good and very easy to make!! The best part is that instead of vanilla you can add lemon juice or cinnamon or chocolate powder and they are still delicious!! I recommend it

Despite having old flour these were still very good. Another tip that I would recommend if one was to make these in the future was not to ball these up as they don't flatten alot in the cooking process. So squish them down or something like that and maybe the dough will go further.

at the time I didn't feel like rolling them in sugar, I'm sure they'd be EVEN BETTER if I had. I also accidently melted the butter a little because it was practically frozen so I microwaved it a little. but it was still great. there wasn't any kind of.. 'explosion' of flavor, but I bet there would be if I rolled them in the sugar. love it though
