1/2 cWater
1 lbSausage meat
1 tsSalt
1 lgOnion; diced
8 cWhite bread; cubed-16 slices
2 lgApples; pared, quartered, Cored, and chopped

Sausage and Apple Stuffing [For a 12-Pound Turkey] Preparation

1. Spread bread cubes on large cookie sheets; place in oven at 250F for 10 minutes; remove from oven; reserve. 2. Cut sausage into thick slices. Brown 5 minutes on each side in a medium-size skillet, then break into small pieces. Cook 1 minute longer or until no trace of pink remains. Combine with bread cubes in a large bowl. 3. Pour off drippings from skillet; measure; return 2 tablespoons. Add onions, and saute until tender. Stir in water and apples; heat tp boiling. Pour over sausage mixture; add salt; toss lightly until evenly moist. Makes approximately 10 cups.
