From The South Beach Diet Quick and Easy cookbook: "When you need to make a quick appetizer with simple pantry staples, this dip is the answer. Hot salsa gives it just the right kick, and cream cheese makes it rich and creamy. Black soybeans bump up the protein, but you can also use regular black beans, if you wish."
Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Arrange tortilla wedges on a baking sheet and bake until crisp, about 12 minutes.
While chips are baking, blend together beans, cream cheese, salsa, lime juice, cumin, and chili powder in a food processor until smooth. Transfer mixture to a nonstick skillet and heat over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until hot, 5 minutes (do not boil).
Transfer dip to a serving dish, sprinkle with cheese, and serve hot with tortilla chips.
Makes 8 (1/4-cup) servings of dip
