2 tbTomato paste
1 Bay leaf; broke
3 lbRolled rump roast
1 Garlic; crushed
1 tbVinegar
4 lgOnions; sliced
1 tbVegetable oil
2 cHot beef broth
1 tsThyme
4 tbFlour
1 tbSugar

Savory Oven Pot Roast Preparation

Combine flour, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Dust beef with seasoned flour. Heat oil in heavy pan; brown meat, then remove. Brown onions and garlic lightly in pan. Replace meat; add remaining ingredients. Cover and bake at 350F until meat is tender, about 2 1/2 hours. Discard bay leaf. Serve with pan gravy.
