1/2 tsBaking soda
1 cBrown Sugar; firmly packed
1/2 tsSalt
1/2 cButter
1 cCoconut
1/2 tsDouble-acting baking powder
1 Egg; unbeaten
1 cQuick-cooking rolled oats

Chewy Coconut Bars Preparation

Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. Makes 4 dozen. Sift together dry ingredients. Cream butter then gradually add brown sugar creaming well. Add egg and vanilla. Blend in dry ingredients. Stir in oats, coconut, and nuts. Spread in well-greased 13 x 9-inch pan. Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) 12 to 15 minutes. Before serving, cut into bars and roll in confectioners sugar. *For use with Pillsburys Best Self-Rising Flour, omit baking powder and salt. Decrease soda to 1/4 teaspoon.
