*(if using frozen berries, place unopened plastic package in a large bowl of hot tap water. Thaw for 10 to 15 minutes before pureeing)
Equiptment note: To make this sauce, you'll need a blender or food processor, a **fine-textured sieve**, a bowl and a rubber spatula.
Place ingredients in a blender or food processor and puree until smooth. Place a fine-textured sieve over a bowl and pour in a little of the puree. Using a rubber spatual, push the sauce through the sieve to remove the seeds. Repeat with remaining puree. Taste sauce, and, if desired, add a little more confectioners' sugar Makes about 1 cup sauce. Refrigerate sauce. It will keep for about 1 wk.
Serve w angel food or sponge cake from the bakery and garnish with fresh berries, or spoon it over ice cream or sorbet. Try it over cut-up fruit or a mix of berries-it's even good with chocolate cake.
