2 cCold water
2 cSugar
1 tsNutmeg
1 tsCloves
3 cFlour
1 tsSalt
2 tbShortening
1 lbMuscat raisins
1 tsBaking soda
1 tsCinnamon
1 tsVanilla

Cold Water Cake Preparation

Put first 7 ingredients in saucepan, stir and boil 5 minutes. Let cool. Add the vanilla then the flour, soda and salt witch have been sifted to-gether. Add cherries and nuts , I use small bottle of cherries and a half cup of chopped nuts and I also add at least a cup of regular raisins.
