Original recipe makes 1 Servings
1/4 cChopped bell (green) pepper
2 lbPeeled raw shrimp
1/4 bnChopped parsley
1/2 ptOysters with juice
3 qtWater
6 tbFlour
3 Bay Leaves
1/2 tsThyme
Salt and pepper to taste
1 cnOr
1/2 cShortening
1 lbClaw crabmeat
1/2 cCelery; chopped
1 pkFrozen okra
1/2 cDiced onion
1 cn(8 oz.) tomato sauce
6 Cloves garlic, chopped

Commanders Palace Seafood Gumbo Preparation

~ Yields 1 gallon Make a roux with the flour and shortening. Add garlic and cook until golden brown. Add onion, bell pepper, celery and cook until transparent. Add shrimp and tomato sauce, simmer 10 minutes, stir in water and blend well. Add all other ingredients except okra and oysters. Cook 1 hour, add okra and cook 20 minutes.
