SOURCE: Mennonite Country-Style Recipes & Kitchen Secrets by Esther H. Shank, copyright 1987, ISBN #0-8361-3697-7. MM format by Ursula R. Taylor who got this from Sherry Pinamonti in the Feb. 1996 cookbook swap. This recipe was adapted by permission from The Richmond/Va./News Leader. With a variety of canned and packaged foods and a few leftovers in your refrigerator, you can create a casserole in minutes. Mix and match one ingredient from each category to suit your taste and supplies you have on hand. Choose selections that enhance each other. Layer all ingredients except topping in a greased 2 quart casserole dish, adding salt and other seasonings to taste. Bake at 350~ until hot thorugh for 20 to 25 minutes. Sprinkle on topping and bake until slightly browned - another 10 to 15 minutes longer. Posted to MM-Recipes Digest V3 #207 Date: Tue, 30 Jul 1996 07:25:29 PST From: jlewis1@juno.com (julie l lewis)

great guide for a quick and easy meal. dont add any extra milk, just the can of condensed soup, protein, starch and veg. it will come out perfect!

As recipes go, it works well. Was a little difficult working out the quantities of starch to protein etc. Casserole turned out more like a pie but it still tasted really nice. Good way of using up leftovers.

First of all, the formatting of the recipe is terrible. Second, the recipe was watery (the only liquid I used was cream of celery soup and a can of milk. (I drained the canned green beans.) MAYBE if I'd used a 3-quart casserole and used UNcooked noodles, not drained the green beans, and baked it three or four time more than the recipe called for ... maybe, just maybe, it wouldn't have been so watery. I downloaded it, and I deleted it.
