The first time I enjoyed this recipe they handed it to me in a mug and smelling the sweetness I thought it was hot chocolate. Imagine my surprise when I realized it was made mostly with beans and purple sweet potato ( not yam )
Cook beans to slightly soft add salt.
thoroughly cook, partially mash or blend in blender with condensed milk
put back in pot add sweet potato, raisins and sweet spices
pour into bowls or mugs and before serving add wafers or cookies.
Do not add any seasoning to beans until they are soft or they will not soften. If you want beans to soften quicker or too avoid problems of gas they may cause to the digestion add a pinch of baking soda while cooking.
