Flour Tortillas #08 Preparation

From: "tammy" Date: Mon, 14 Mar 1994 15:51:48 GMT Mix the flour, baking powder and salt together. Cut in 1/4 to 1/3 cup shortening (I usually use just a little bit more that 1/4 cup --too much and the texture goes off). Add 3/4 cup warm water slowly, allow dough to form and knead for 5 minutes or so. Allow dough to rest for 15-30 minutes Form into golfball or small sized balls. Allow to rest another 15-30 minutes. I use an electric tortilla press but you can also roll them out the old fashion way. Once rolled out, heat in electric skillet for approx 30-60 secs per side. Should get slightly brown.
