"Fantastic as listed, but I've adapted it to grating in whichever hard cheese I have about (Romano, asiago, parm), adding a couple schlugs of soy sauce, substituting burger or steak seasoning for the S&P, and this last go 'round, I skipped the onion and tomato - still awesome. Recommend serving on an everything bagel thin with BBQ sauce or a light schmear of cream cheese. Thanks for posting!" - kmcm7b

Original recipe makes 4 Servings
1/4 cFine dry bread Crumbs
1/8 tsPepper
1/4 cFinely chopped Green Pepper
1/4 cFinely shredded Carrot
1/4 cOnion; finely chopped
2 tbGrated Parmesan cheese
1/2 tsSalt
1 lbGround Turkey or Lean Beef
Egg white
Med Tomato, sliced

Garden Burgers Preparation

In a large bowl combine egg white and bread crumbs.(if using beef, stir in 2 T water) Stir in carrot, onion, green pepper, salt, and pepper. Add Parmesan cheese and ground meat; mix well. Shape meat mixture into four 3/4" thick patties. Spray a cold grill rack with Pam. Then place rack on grill. Grill burgers on an uncovered grill directly over medium coals for 7 minutes. Turn and grill 8-11 minutes or till no pink remains. Place 1 tomato slice atop each burger and grill 1 minute more. *********************************************************** Per serving: 290 calories, 23 g protein, 8 g carbohydrates, 18 g fat, 79 mg cholesterol, 441 mg sodium, 351 mg potassium.
