| 1/4 cOrange juice |
| 1 tsBaking soda |
| Chopped |
| 6 ozsuet; Finely chopped |
| 1 tsGround cloves |
| 4 slBread; torn up |
| 1 tsVanilla |
| 1 cFlour; sifted |
| 2 tsGround cinnamon |
| 1 cDates; pitted & chopped |
| 1/2 ccandied fruit & peels; Mixed, chopped |
| 1/2 cwalnuts; Broken |
| 1 cmilk |
| 1 cLight brown sugar |
| 1/2 tsSalt |
| 2 cRaisins; (a mixture of dark & Golden is nice) |
| 1 tsGround mace |
Grandmas Plum Pudding Preparation
Soak bread in milk; beat. Stir in next five ingredients. Sift together dry ingredients; add fruits & nuts; mix well. Stir in bread mixture. Pour into well-greased mold (2-quart); cover with foil & tie with string. Place on rack in a very deep baking pan (like a dutch oven); add boiling water to 1" deep. Cover & steam for 3 1/2 hours. checking water level & adding water as needed. Cool 10 minutes & unmold. Serve warm with hard sauce on top.
