Original recipe makes 1
2 Eggs; Slightly beaten
1/4 cOrange juice
1 tsBaking soda
Chopped
6 ozsuet; Finely chopped
1 tsGround cloves
4 slBread; torn up
1 tsVanilla
1 cFlour; sifted
2 tsGround cinnamon
1 cDates; pitted & chopped
1/2 ccandied fruit & peels; Mixed, chopped
1/2 cwalnuts; Broken
1 cmilk
1 cLight brown sugar
1/2 tsSalt
2 cRaisins; (a mixture of dark & Golden is nice)
1 tsGround mace

Grandmas Plum Pudding Preparation

Soak bread in milk; beat. Stir in next five ingredients. Sift together dry ingredients; add fruits & nuts; mix well. Stir in bread mixture. Pour into well-greased mold (2-quart); cover with foil & tie with string. Place on rack in a very deep baking pan (like a dutch oven); add boiling water to 1" deep. Cover & steam for 3 1/2 hours. checking water level & adding water as needed. Cool 10 minutes & unmold. Serve warm with hard sauce on top.
