"This soup is amazing! I added some white wine and used both enoki and shiitake mushrooms (1 c each). The recipe said it serves 6, but my girlfriend and I devoured the entire pot in one night! We were pretty full by the end of the night, but I was sad to see the bottom of the soup pan. I am cooking another batch as I type for dinner tonight!" - Happy2Fly

Original recipe makes 6
1 Onion; chopped
1 16-ounce cnsauerkraut; rinsed
1/2 cSour cream
4 cBeef broth
1/2 lbPolish sausage; thinly sliced
2 tbFlour
2 Slicesbacon
1 Green pepper; chopped
1 cfresh mushrooms; Sliced
1 tsCaraway seed
2 Tomatoes; chopped
2 Stalkscelery; sliced
2 tsPaprika

Hangover Soup Preparation

In Dutch oven; cook sausage and bacon until sausage is brown and bacon is crisp. Remove sausage and bacon, and drain; reserve drippings. Crumble bacon. To drippings add onion and green pepper; cook until tender but not brown. Drain off fat. Stir in cooked sausage and bacon, beff broth, sauerkraut, mushrooms, celery, tomatoes, paprika and caraway seed. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer 45 mins. Meanwhile, combine sour cream and flour. Gradually stir about 1 cup of the hot soup into sour cream mixture. Return all to Dutch oven. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly. Cook and stir 1 min. more. Makes 6 servings. Agnes Hanno Pvmp45B

    All in all pretty tasty, but I felt like the sauerkraut kinda overwhelmed the flavor of the other veggies. Also, the celery didn't quite cook to tender. Next time I'll add it with the onion and green pepper.

    Reminded me of my favorite leftover from Grandmas Sunday dinner. Mashed potatoes, sauerkraut, roast beef gravy. I used nonfat greek yougurt instead of sour cream since it doesnt curdle as easily and added a diced jalepeno when adding the tomatoes and celery.
