Prepare pasta per directions.
Place cream in pan and bring to a boil.
Lower the heat, add the butter and whisk in.
Turn off heat and add ? to 1/3 cup of grated parmesan and season with salt & pepper.
Add pasta to Alfredo sauce and gently toss to coat and add reserved pasta water if desired.
Serve immediately with remaining grated parmesan.
Variations
1. ? & ? can be used in place of cream if a lighter sauce is desired.
2. Fresh chopped herbs or pesto can be added to taste
3. Lemon zest &/or lemon juice can be added
4. Freshly ground nutmeg can be added to the sauce
