Suggest a better description1. Preheat the oven to moderately hot 190 degree celsius (375 F). Brush a 1.25 litre shallow heatproof dish with melted butter. Put the apple in a large bowl and add the caster sugar and 3 tablespoons water. Mix to combine.
2. Sift the flour and cinnamon into a bowl. With your fingertips, rub in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs. Add the brown sugar and rolled oats, and mix together well.
3. Spoon the apple into the prepared dish an sprinkle on the topping. Bake for 40 minutes, or until the apple is tender and the crumble topping is golden. Serve hot with custard or cream and a sprinkling of cinnamon.
