2. Cook sliced fruit over fire in a saucepan with a splash of water, sugar, splash of vanilla extract, over medium heat until softened - about 5 minutes.
3. Mix flour and oats in mixing bowl. Chop in butter. Use fingers to crumble together until it resembles breadcrumbs.
4. Add brown sugar and mix well with a fork.
5. Place cooked fruit in baking dish, scatter crumble mixture on top. Press down lightly, but don't over compact it.
6. Bake for 45 minutes.
