The difference with this pie is that it has a crumb topping.

"So, I have a gas oven, towards the end, I put tin foil over the pies so the crumble wouldn't burn. I only baked it for 25 mins and it was bubbling when I pulled it out. In the crumble, I added cinnamon in...wished I read the reviews first...adding brown sugar to the crumble its a great idea."

Ingredients

Crust
1 1/2 Cups Flour
1 Tablespoon Sugar
1/2 teaspoon Salt
3 Tablespoons Milk
1/2 Cup Safflower Oil
Pie filling
6 Apples; more if needed, Pared and Cut
2/3 Cups Sugar
4 Tablespoons Flour
1 Tablespoon Cinnamon
Topping
1 Cup Flour
1/2 Cup Sugar
1/2 Cup Butter; softened

Original recipe makes 8 Servings

Servings  

Preparation

CRUST:

Mix together in pie plate

PIE FILLING:

Mix all ingredients and put in uncooked pie shell.

CRUMB TOPPING:

Mix together and crumble over the top of the pie

Bake @ 400 degrees for 25-30 min.

Made it again this Thanksgiving year. I had gas before, now electric. I made it in a square, glass pan. This time, I used brown sugar and cinnamon with crushed walnuts with the crumble.

Hey every, just posted the pick of my pie. Great recipe, everyone enjoyed it. I also added brown sugar to my crumble and next time I might put in some raisins or cranberries.

Skipped the oil, substituted brown sugar in the crumble topping and baked at 325 for 45minutes to perfection! Everyone gobbled it up at Thanksgiving! Thank-you!
