Ingredients

4 Ripe Bananas
1 c Sugar
1/2 c Applesauce
1 ts Vanilla extract
2 Eggs
1 ts Baking soda
1 tb Baking Powder
1 ts Salt
2 c Flour

Original recipe makes 12 Servings

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 F. Place bananas in a large bowl and mash with electric mixer. Stir in sugar and let stand for 15 minutes.

Add applesauce and eggs and beat well. Add remaining ingredients and mix thoroughly. Pour into 9"x5" loaf pan coated with nonstick vegetable spray. Bake for 45 minutes, or until a wooden toothpick inserted in the center of the loaf comes out clean.

Remove from oven and let stand 10 minutes before removing from pan. Cool on wire rack.

Tried this recipe and found it delicious! Moist and very flavorful! I added a sprinkle of brown sugar on the top for a little something extra. Will definitely be one of my go to recipes!

I used the dark brown sugar (1 cup) and I used sea salt instead. and used 5 very brown bananas. I did not follow the mixing directions. :) I mixed it in order down the recipe! I'm a rebel. It came out great!

I just made this and it smells amazing. I put it in 2 smaller loaf pans and it took 40 minutes to bake. I added cinnamon & chopped walnuts as well. Can't wait to give it a taste once it cools down!!!!

This is the BEST banana bread I have made in ages. As I didn't have apple sauce I used pear sauce. I also lined my pan with parchment paper rather than spray. I don't know if that made the difference but this bread is incredibly moist without the two toned color in my finished bread. I had place my bread in the oven and after a few minutes I realized I had forgotten to add the vanilla. Since there was already a thin layer forming I chose to just sprinkle the vanilla over the top. Still taste excellent. Thank you for sharing your recipe.

I have made this bread with white flour and whole wheat with nuts with out nuts and it's all very good. Always so soft and sweet :) Im sure chocolate chips or cinnimon would be great in it too.
