Suggest a better descriptionPreheat oven to 325 degrees. Coat a 13" X 9" baking dish with cooking spray. Place butter and 1/2 cup of the brown sugar in a large bowl. Using an electric mixer on medium speed, beat until light and creamy. On low speed, gradually beat in 2 cups of the flour to get course crumbs. Press firmly and evenly into bottom of prepared baking dish. Spread preserves over the top.
In a medium bowl, combine eggs and remaining cup of the brown sugar. Beat on high speed until thick. Beat in vanilla, baking powder, and salt. On low speed, gradually beat in remaining 1/2 cup of the flour. Spread over preserves.
Bake for 40 minutes, or until lightly browned. Cool on a rack. Cut into 24 squares. Dust with confectioners' sugar before serving.
