This is a quick, simple, easy to fix soup. Nothing special, but a very tasty side dish. It is low fat, low sodium, low carb, in fact low everything but flavor.
Finely chop onion and saute in butter until soft and clear. Meanwhile place asparagus spears in a blender reserving a few top for garnish. Blend until smooth. In a sauce pan combine all ingredients and bring to a simmer. Add salt and pepper to taste and garnish with reserved tops. Serve.
