Delicious dinner rolls can also be baked as a loaf. Be sure to double the recipe. They go fast!

Ingredients

1 cup Oatmeal; quick cooking
2 cups Water; boiling
3 tablespoon Butter
2/3 cup Brown sugar
1 tablespoon Sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon Salt
5 cups Flour
2 packages Yeast
1/3 cup Water; warm

Original recipe makes 12 Servings

Preparation

Cook oatmeal, 2 cups boiling water, and 3 tablespoons butter and cool to lukewarm. Dissolve yeast in 1/3 cup warm water. Combine oatmeal mixture, yeast mixture, sugars, and salt. Beat and knead in flour. Let rise until double. Form into rolls and let rise. Bake at 350 for 20 to 30 minutes.

I've been looking for this recipe. I use to make these rolls often for family or church dinners, but lost all my recipes when the tornado in Greensburg misplaced everthing I owned. Church dinner tomorrow and guess who's getting Oatmeal Rolls!
