Classic baked ziti with ground beef
Preheat oven to 350. In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook ziti until barely tender, about 8 minutes. Drain well. Return ziti to empty pot.
In a large skillet, cook ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat, stirring often to break up meat until cooked. Stir tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and hot pepper. Simmer.
Pour sauce over ziti in pot. Add ricotta and stir to mix. Pour half of the mixture into a lightly oiled casserole dish. Sprinkle on 1 cup mozzarella. Pour in remaining ziti and sprinkle remaining mozzarella and pamesan cheese over top. Bake uncovered for 30 to 40 minutes.
