Try this Beef Stew recipe, or contribute your own.
Lightly salt and pepper beef cubes and coat with flour. In hot skillet, saute with butter floured beef cubes until lightly browned. In a heavy pot saute onions until clear. Add meat, can of whole tomatoes,3 cups water*, bouillon, garlic, and parsley, thyme, salt and pepper. Add 1 cup of red wine if available. Cover, simmer 1 1/2 hours. Then add carrots, celery, potatoes and small onions. Cook until tender, about 1 hour. *Quantity for standard serving size.

TxCampCook 6y agoBest stew recipe. Family loves it, easy to fix for camping meal. Sustitute venison for beef.
daylightsun 10y agoI did not do the first step of the recipe as I just placed the beef and 2 large diced onions into a large pot and added the water and a can of diced tomatoes and followed the recipe from there, except at the end when I added gravy powder mixed with water to thicken it. I did add a sweet potato as well, but not the wine.
