This is soft , tasty , cheap , simple & easy bread.this recipe makes two loaf, cut the recipe half if you need only one.

"I must have large loaf pans, but it made just one loaf like the one pictured for me. I also ended up using 2 tsp of yeast instead of just 1/2 T. Also used about 1/2 cup or so of wheat flour, so I cannot fault this recipe because I altered it so much. It is a good bread recipe. Very delish"

1 cup warm water
1 cup milk; 2%
1/2 tbsp active dry yeast
3 tbsp sugar
3 tbsp butter; melted
1 tsp salt
5 cups All purpose flour

Original recipe makes 6



In a large bowl, mix water & milk. Add sugar and sprinkle yeast on the top, leave for 5 min. after 5 min, add butter, flour & salt. Stir with a wooden spoon to bring all together.

Take the dough out on lightly floured surface & knead for 8 minute minimum, until it become smooth. Let the dough rest for 1 hour in an oiled bowl, cover with kitchen towel to prevent form skin.

After 1 hour it will have been double in size. Take out air from the dough by patting with the help of hand. Lay the dough out on the floured area, divide into two potions and spread each portion out in a rectangle shape, with one side being roughly the length of the bread pan and the other side being about a bread pan and a half long. You may need to put a bit more flour on it and on the table to prevent sticking. Roll the rectangle upward like picture. Tuck the ends of the roll underneath, with the “under” side being where the seam is. Then spray two bread pans down with nonstick cooking spray and put the loaves inside of two 8 X 4 inch pans. Leave them to rise for another hour. Bake in a preheated oven at (200 c) for 30 minute. Keep an eye during baking, if top is getting dark, then cover top with a piece of aluminum foil. Take the bread out after 30 minute;take out from pan & cool on wire rack for 2 hours. brush the top with melted butter. cut after 3 or 4 hour.

I followed the recipe to a tee and the bread did not rise...but we added dill and onion powder and it still turned out yummy.

It came out just perfect, I changed some things, like adding 2.5tb of sugar, 1tb of salt and 1tb of yeast. My family loved it :)

Awesome !!! This is my first bread baking, so I halved the recipe and made it My mind just balked at the thought of eating so much all purpose flour, So out of the 2and 1/2 cups, I used white whole wheat (1.5) and all purpose (1 cup) to make it healthier. It took the twice the time mentioned for it to double but baked beautifully and sliced neatly. I am a novice baker and only yesterday did I realise how many calories we consume without even being aware. The next time I see a loaf at the super market, 2.5 cups of all purpose flour is going to shine in front of it :)) Nowadays, I have learnt a lot from reading other reviewers. so I hope in turn, someone finds this useful to make their bread more healthier. Yum! I made 2 loaves. It was gone in a jiffy, so I made another 2. It is still moist, soft and yummy overnight. Will definitely make it again.
