Top-ranked recipe named "Best Hamburger Steak Ever"
Homestyle hamburger steak...need I say more.
"very good but I ended up with too much gravy. When I make it again I will only use one gravy pkg and instead of adding the onions to the gravy I will leave them out and serve them on the patties and pour the gravy over the onions and patty. The onions seem to get lost in the gravy."- nthogmartin
Mix hamburger, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and flour together. Form into patties. Brown both sides. Remove from skillet.
Saute the onions in the same pan, adding a small amount of oil if needed.
After sauteing the onion, remove from skillet.
Prepare gravy and stated on the instructions, bu also all the boullion cube and salt and pepper.
When gravy is made, put steaks and onions in the gravy. Simmer for about 30 to 45 minutes, checking often and adding water to keep gravy from becoming too think.

sdfgrl 1 year agoI found the recipe a little hard to follow. (Brown both sides? Do I cook the patties or just enough for both sides to be brown.) It turned out really yummy in the end, though.
Bluve27 1 year agoHubby and kids enjoyed the meal. I found it slightly difficult to make based on the vague instructions provided. For someone who has never made Salisbury steak, or hamburger steak, more detailed instructions on the patty thickness and heat requirements would have made my cooking experience more pleasant. Overall, a good dish for those who like hamburger steak.
