From Aunt Mary (via Helen Strautman)
Mix sugar, flour, and a little milk.
Add eggs and beat. Add rest of milk and beat.
Place over heat and stir constantly until thickened. Add vanilla.
Strain and thin with milk.
Chill and serve with nutmeg and whipped cream.
*can add rum or brandy
**double the recipe and you can serve in punch bowl with dollops of whipped cream
