Place in a small covered saucepan with 2 tablespoons of butter and cook over low heat 10 to 15 minutes, until very tender. They should not color more than a creamy yellow. Pour the braising juices into the stew, and bury the garlic cloves among the pieces of beef just before pouring on the finishing sauce.
