Heres a very tasty recipe for banana bread that I clipped from the Arizona Republic Food! section. Its lowfat too! Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease one 8 x 4 x 2 inch loaf pan. Beat margarine, applesauce, eggs, milk or water and brown sugar in large mixer bowl until smooth. Add bananas and blend at low speed; beat at high speed 1 - 2 minutes. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; mix into batter. Mix in walnuts or pecans. Pour batter into greased loaf pan. Bake in preheated oven until bread is golden and toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, 55 - 60 minutes. Cool in pan on wire rack for 10 minutes; remove from pan and cool to room temparature. Makes 16 servings/ 1 loaf. Posted to recipelu-digest Volume 01 Number 331 by owner-recipelu@ListService.net on Nov 30, 1997
liliorchid 9m agolove this recipe. i add cinnamin and a natural fiber suppl and remove the nuts. also i freeze my bananas so when they're thawed there's no need to mash.
yostceleste 2y agoSuper moist. I added vanilla to the recipe. Baked it for 65minutes. Still moist on top shut off oven left it in there for 20-25minutes longer. Taste great with peanut butter :)

dakota3 6y agoBrown sugar really makes this recipe. I also added 1/2 cup chocolate chips and 1/4 cup milk instead of applesauce.
