Pour melted butter over the pecans in a large bowl and mix well until coated. Spread in one layer and roast about 6 hours in a slow (170 degree) oven, stirring occasionally. Spread on paper towels and blot. Store in airtight container for 2-3 weeks.
If you're in a hurry, you can speed up the process to 30 minutes or more at 300 degrees, but the slow roast method results in crisp, delicious pecans.
