Cheesy meatballs with spaghetti

"I used Italian seasonings instead of basil and doubled the recipe by adding Italian sausage along with the ground beef. These were absolutely delicious! I usually don't like meatballs because they are dry. Not these! Very moist! "

Ingredients

Are you making this? 
1 pound lean ground beef; (500 grams)
1 egg; lightly beaten
1 cup grated cheese , tasty
1 onion; finely chopped
1/4 cup basil; chopped
1 tbs olive oil
1 jar tomato; onion & basil chunky sauce
1 pound dried spaghetti; (400 grams)
1 Basil leaves; to serve

Method

1. Combine mince, egg, cheese, onion and basil. Season and roll into balls.

2. Heat oil in a large non-stick frying pan. Cook half the meatballs for 4-5 minutes. Remove and repeat.

3. Return the meatballs to the pan and pour over sauce. Cover, cook over a medium heat for 20 minutes until cooked through.

4. Cook spaghetti in a large pan of boiling water, as per packet directions. Drain and place in bowl. Spoon over meatballs and sauce. Serve with basil leaves.

After you brown the meatballs put them in a baking dish pour sauce over them cover and bake. It distributes the flavor into the sauce and your meatballs stay juicy. Cook for about 15-20 min on 350

It was easy to make however correction: don't use medium heat for the sauce for twenty min. It burns the sauce. True story. Lesson learned. Your better off microwaving the pasta sauce instead.

First time making meatballs turned out great!! ... if the meatballs aren't cooking through for you try covering them with a lid turn down the heat a little and turn them every so often

They came out ok the first time, but I made the meatballs about 2' in diameter. After cooking the meatballs (for maybe 10 minutes) in the frying pan I cut one open to take a look and the center was still uncooked. I ended up putting them in the oven for 10-15 minutes after that. I don't think cooking in the sauce would have been enough to cook my meatballs. I also think that they need more cheese. Maybe twice as much.
