"This taste very good ,but we were very disappointed because it was not ready at the specified time in the recipe. We found that out at dinner time after we fixed our plates. I should have read the reviews to see that this dish should have been cooked longer . So I had to put it back in the oven for an additional 30 minutes and we will have to eat it for dinner tomorrow instead. But from what I tasted, I really enjoyed . Too bad the potatoes were not cooked completely. I will definitely make this again but will bake for at least an hour."
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cook onion in butter until soft, add flour and cook for 2 minutes, whisking. Whisk in milk and cook until thick and bubbly.
Remove from heat and add 3/4 cup of cheese, stirring until melted; season with salt and pepper.
Layer half of potatoes in a baking dish and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Cover with half of sauce. Layer remaining potato slices on top of sauce and season. Top with remaining sauce and sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake, covered, for 30 minutes or until potatoes are tender. This recipe yields 4 servings.
cook677 1y agoDefinitely needs longer cooking time or pre cook potatoes. Very delishes

Jennelson1984 1y agoI've made this several times in the past and have loved it each time! As stated below, however, the potatoes need at least an hour to cook. May try adding broccoli next time just to mix it up.
casseusaim 1y agoTried this recipe last night and it was really good. Read the reviews and parboiled the potatoes for approx 10 min in the microwave. Added about 2oz of cream cheese, minced garlic and herbs to the cheese mixture. Also doubled the shredded cheese amount for my family's taste. Cooking time was still a bit off but I was prepared for that. Will try adding chicken breast and low fat bacon next time. It was delicious, just a tiny bit leftover and my hubby ate it for breakfast the next day. A keeper, thanks for sharing!!!

Rysona 1y agoI'm lactose intolerant, so I used almond milk and less cheese. It came out smelling wonderfully! The sauce thickened as it cooled.
