Ready in 45 minutes

Easy, Quick and always popular. This basic recipe allows for great versatility and add-ins.

"I've made these a few times and gotten rave reviews every time. I make them with coconut and 1/2 a cup of oatmeal replacing 1/2 a cup of flour. I've even used vegan margarine and egg replacer to make them vegan."

Ingredients

1 cup Butter
1/2 cup Sugar
1 cup Brown sugar
1 teaspoon Salt
2 teaspoons Vanilla
2 each Eggs
2 1/2 cups Flour; sifted
1/2 teaspoon Baking soda
2 cups Chocolate chips
-- Optional --
1/2 cup Unsweetened coconut
1/2 cup Nuts, toasted; chopped

Original recipe makes 16 Servings

Dozen

Preparation

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. ***(Oven temps may vary from one to the other. Please check with thermometer prior to use)

In a mixing bowl, combine the butter with both sugars; cream together with a big

wooden spoon until light and fluffy.

Add the salt, vanilla, and eggs. Beat until well mixed.

Add the baking soda to the flour and mix well. Add the flour in 3 parts mix until just combined.

Stir in the chocolate chips.

Prepare a large silicone or parchment paper inlay; Scoop into tablespoons,

Bake until cookies are golden around the edges, or just starting to firm up, but still soft in the centre, 10 minutes.

Remove from oven, and let cool on baking sheet 1 to 2 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack,

and let cool completely

Serve with a tall glass of milk or a steaming mug of tea or hot chocolate.

***Pictures taken had an added pc of toblerone.....

Notes

Rotating the pan 1/2 way through baking never hurts. I prefer to cook around 325*F to limit browning and maintain a more moist cookie

Used 2 sticks softened margarine, added 1 cup chopped pecans. 8 min. @ 350 in my oven. Total chocolate chip perfection.

I'm just a tiny bit confused by how BigOven lists the ingredients. I'm assuming it's 1 cup of butter OR 1/2 cup butter and 1/4 cup veg oil. So you don't use the oil if you're using 1 cup of butter, correct?

Yes, we are checking with the poster (Orange_Chef) but I believe that's correct. - Steve Murch 1m ago

These were very good and were gone very quickly.

By far the best cookie recipe I've ever tried. I used mini chocolate chips (cause I grabbed the wrong ones at the store), and I loved them even more than regular! I've made them 3x this month!

My very picky 4 year old son adores these cookies! I make them for him about twice a week and between him, my husband, and my other two sons, they don't last very long! My mother in law is always in awe about how they stay soft and chewy! Will never try another chocolate chip cookie recipe!
