Old Penna. Dutch dish local to Big Run, Pa.
"My Mom made this and now my kids love it too! Very good and simple to make."
Boil chicken pieces in water, onion, celery, salt and pepper, until done. Remove chicken and cool so that chicken may be removed from the bone. Cut chicken into small 1/2" chunks and put aside. Remove onion pieces and skim fat from broth. Mix flour and water in shaker and thicken broth to a gravy consistancy and add chicken peices. Ladle over waffles and pepper liberally. May be used with leftovers also, especially Turkey.
trevalr 2y agoBig hit! I made corn bread waffles instead of grandma's recipe.

JKRojahn 3y agoI don't know what I was expecting but this wasn't it. My family and I ate it, but I can't say that we particularly enjoyed it. I'm huge on flavor, and this had very little. While it was not terrible, it was nothing exciting, either. I will try this again, but I'll be adding my own flavor to give it some life.
diogie 3y agoI grew up with this dish. This is just like grandma used to make!
